Decreased Density Disturbs Castellano and Winder
Loss of proposed Town Center specialty market causes concern.
Thursday June 23, 2005
During the June 20th Redevelopment Agency Meeting both Council Members Castellano
and Winder expressed concern that the project might fail without increased density.
They questioned the developers proposal to lower densities on the Strawberry Field Site 13 and the Lakeview Site 14C properties after they learned there probably would not be a specialty market in the Town Center.
It is difficult to imagine that a specialty market would not survive if 57 dwellings were removed from the Town Center project with the Vista Del Verde project being built up the street.
The developer, Mr. Dieden, had revised his plan at Mayor Keri Wilson's request from the previous meeting.
So far, Mayor Wilson is the only council member to listen to residents concerns about increased densities in the area and take a moderate stance on density.
It is also interesting to note that Mr. Dieden's revised plan for Site 13 and 14C is very close to meeting current General Plan densities.
